There's a huge amount of noise in the media around fracking in the UK media - inevitable with the recent protests around the exploratory drilling being undertaken by Cuadrilla in a small Sussex village.

It's hard to know who to believe - but it sounds like fracking 'could' be a transitional resource and 'might' be cleaner than continuing to rely on coal. It would be lovely to hear some reasoned debate on it. Not media puffing.

How safe is fracking?

Weeeeeell, there is tons of debate about it, but everybody has an angle so if you want to be properly informed you need to read them all and then make your own opinion.

Here's a pretty good summary of the issues we face, which appeared in the NYT following the 2012 World Energy Outlook report published by the IEA: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/10/opinion/sunday/natural-gas-by-the-book.html?_r=4&ref=todayspaper&
