Nice to see things happening a little closer to home. I also just saw <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151339996620146&amp;set=a.199446180145.142254.48933285145&amp;type=1" title="Centre for Adaptive Technology's photo on Facebook" rel="nofollow">this interesting post on Facebook</a> - last weekend in the UK wind turbines produced as much power as gas power stations - another step in the right direction!

For me the question is not so much how much wind power we're able to produce but how well we're able to integrate it into the grid / how efficiently we're able to use it. The intermittent nature of wind (and solar) means power is often generated when demand is low (e.g. wind often blows strongest at night, when demand is low). But here's an interesting new initiative that could play a key role in helping us maximize renewables by matching renewable power supply and energy demand: The Power-to-Gas (P2G) project is about the conversion of renewable power into gas, which reduces temporal surpluses of renewable power by converting these surpluses into gases, which is of particular interest for the North Sea area as its on- and off-shore natural gas infrastructure is well developed.
