Historically, Samoa has suffered extensive damage from flooding, especially along its coast. Future coastal flooding events are expected to increase significantly in severity, driven by sea level rise. But there are ways to increase preparedness, not for free, but at costs lower than waiting for the damage to occur - and risk transfer options to strengthen financial resilience. Does the insurance or reinsurance industry consider "climate change insurance coverage" for regulatory approvals in the water sector such as water right entitlements?
